Rock Mill. June 2021

After our great visit to Hocking Hills State Park [see: Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio], we were Columbus-bound. Then I noted on Google Maps that we would be passing near Lancaster, Ohio and it has a collection of covered bridges just like Pennsylvania. We made a detour to see four of them. I actually wouldn't have minded seeing them all (eight in total), but AQ found they "all looked the same" (they do). We also didn't want to arrive in Columbus too late.

To the credit of Lancaster, Ohio - the bridges are all well sign-marked. Between phone maps and signage, it was easy to locate all of them. Additionally, there is parking available! (not so in Lancaster, PA - ha!)

Of all of them, the tiny bridge at Rock Mill (close to Columbus) was actually the best. The bridge is short, but its setting by an old working mill and waterfall make for an incredible setting - even A admitted he was happy we stopped. I was shocked the place hadn't already been photographed and memed to death - it virtually looks like a painting from the proper angle (which requires walking into the underbrush).

The covered bridges of Lancaster (Ohio) - an unexpected treat on my grand journey.

We arrived in Columbus late, but we would have the whole next day to explore.
